I
have dabbled a bit in music since I on a whim decided to start
learning
to play the recorder in 1995. Since then it has been a minor hobby of
mine, always playing a secondary role to my other expressions of
creativity.
In 2002, I
discovered Native American flutes more or less
coincidentally while looking at what different ethnic woodwinds there
was out there by surfing the web, and after hearing a sound clip, I
ordered one and really enjoyed it.
After a bit of
research and trying out a few different makers of Native
American style flutes, I found Woodsounds Flutes, which - in my view -
simply make the very best ones available. Unlike many other instruments
where the aim of the makers is to make them all sound alike, these
flutes have a lot of personality and individuality, down to differences
in wood and how they are worked.
Because of this,
their subtlety of expression and joyous simplicity of
improvisation with their pentatonic scale, they have become my
favourite instruments to play.
On this page I
have included links to some of my musical YouTube uploads.
